Alice in Wonderland Wedding…
The concept of this fun bridal shoot was inspired by Lewis Carroll’s adventures of Alice in Wonderland, and was held in the gardens of Marleybrook House, a 17th century thatched cottage in Kent. The photoshoot takes us through the story of Alice; including down the rabbit hole, a mismatched botanical Mad Hatters Tea Party, the Queen’s Croquet Ground and the Secret Garden.
I just love the youthful, modern bridal styling and eclectic wedding decor ideas…

“Down the Rabbit Hole” is the latest in my Fairytale Bridal series, a concept born from a love-affair with fairytales. I adore the idea of turning these iconic characters into brides, and telling the story of their wedding.
I met my co-planner, Valentina, through our mutual love of everything whimsical. We wanted to create a modern interpretation of Alice – as if our childhood favourite had returned to Wonderland as a bride-to-be. We chose Chloe Lee as our photographer, as her fun, colourful style and great eye for detail was the perfect fit.
We couldn’t have asked for a better setting than Marleybrook House, with its cottage- like quirks, fully working vintage funfair, and exquisite gardens.
We wanted surreal and curious décor – like a Mad Hatter’s dream. VV Raven created some larger-than-life arrangements for us, both real and faux, with a more botanical edge. The Prop Factory complimented this with fantastic props that really brought the space to life! Wonderland Invites designed our stationery, a beautiful echo of Alice’s personality and quirks.
Alice’s style was youthful and effortless – with a short dress, made by bespoke designer Audrey Ashley Couture, a gorgeous colourful veil crafted by McFayden Millinery, and jewellery by Anna Faine.
We wanted fun nods to the original story, but also inspirational styling for the modern, unconventional couple. The hair and makeup was modernised – the pop of true Alice blue under the eyes shows that wedding makeup can be bold and “un-bridal”, but still beautiful. Cass and Amy gave Alice both classic and more imaginative hair looks – which brides could definitely wear into the evening!
It’s hard to choose our favourite scenes – we all fell in love with the table, so dream- like and full! We loved that it burst with unmistakeable, out-of-the-ordinary ‘Wonderland’ personality.
Valentina says, “When brainstorming aesthetics, remember that you have the creative freedom to tell your love story in whatever way is most meaningful to you. Don’t worry about what’s expected of you – what your guests will love most is to feel like they experienced your wedding day with you, and for you.”
Thank you so much for sharing with us…. perfect timing for Easter holidays <3
