Upton Barn & Walled Garden

Upton Barn owners, Richard and Claire, hunted high and low to find the perfect wedding venue for their own nuptial event but couldn’t.  Fortunately they had the space to do it at home and enjoyed it so much they decided to offer it to other couples too!

Many weddings later, the forgotten Victorian kitchen garden and dilapidated cider barn are but a distant memory and Upton Barn & Walled Garden has grown from strength to strength.  The passion and dedication is evident throughout, from the neatly kept gardens and grounds, to the stunning spaces and warm welcome you receive from everyone.  This is very much a family affair and anyone visiting is treated like a long-lost friend.  Their expert team will be with you every step of the way to help and guide you as much or as little as you need.

The Walled Garden is a picture-perfect setting for wedding ceremonies, with its manicured lawns, tinkling water fountain, abundant flower beds and hand-carved oak arbour.  In less clement weather, The Cider Barn, a traditional Devon cob barn with a few contemporary twists, is available for ceremonies of up to 156 guests.  A polished concrete floor, locally crafted chandeliers, soaring oak trusses, floor to ceiling glazed gable all combine to offer a stunning backdrop for that all-important ‘I Do’.  Afterwards, guests can enjoy drinks and canapes whilst they mingle in the garden, play a game by the lake, explore the beautiful landscaped grounds further afield or sit back and relax around the wood-burning stove in the cosy Press Bar.

Then dine in style in our new Stable Barn with seating for up to 156 guests.  With warm timber panelling, striking lighting features, fully-stocked bar and yet more captivating views from the floor
