Where The Wild Things Rave Party…
Wedding and event venue Dewsall Court in Herefordshire has an amazing reputation for excellent service, beautiful grounds and serving delicious locally sourced food; so when we found out they were hosting a ‘Where The Wild Things Rave‘ party, we wanted to find out more.
It promised to be a summer night of adventure, discovery, feasting and raving… a night of immersive dinning, music and entertaining. Chase cocktails curated by mixologist Thom Williams would be served alongside the 5 course dinner which included pigeon cooked over apple wood, dandelion, mint, molasses and pork crackling AND a blackcurrant jelly fluff pudding with elderflower and angelica cream, ginseng and ginger root crunch… oh MY!!!
The lovely Binky and Sally from Binky Nixon Photography went to experience the evening and from the feedback I’ve received they LOVED every minute of it… I had no doubts that it would be anything less than perfect from the Dewsall team. Over to Binky to tell us more about it…
Where the wild things rave was a truly magical event. Having never been to Dewsall Court and knowing very little about it, I was taken back on arrival by its sheer charm and beauty.
We were welcomed with cocktails served by a mixologist wearing a crown and a fox tail (in addition to clothes obviously). The weather was beautiful and the sunlight was twinkling through the bar and lampshades that hung all around. The place had an eccentric yet homely vibe to it.
We were then encouraged to embark on a trail where we followed the path down to the lake. We stood beside the beautiful church and had canapes before meandering around to more of the gardens where we were treated to more oysters and more cocktails.
The gardens were stunning, quite wild (which suited the name of the event) but so beautiful. There were things to look at everywhere, charming buildings, little nooks and crannies within the garden and the………….BOOM, Wainhouse Barn. It has beautifully restored in a simple charming way. Perfect for any event to offer a rustic yet simple canvas to bring your own style to.
It was decked out beautifully with lots of greenery, candles, moss and plants. Dinner was served and it was delicious. I can’t remember all the elaborate menu to list it out, but on the evenings we were given little scrolls that had listed what we were about to eat, where it came from, the history of it, this part was a really lovely touch. Whilst feasting on the culinary delights there was images projected onto the wall of fish, birds and matching sounds played out. It created a lovely calming vibe so everyone could sit back, feast, drink and enjoy!!
The evening kicked off with smoke, music, and ‘Chase Vodka’. Whilst the wild ones raved inside, outside there were blankets, open fires, swings from the trees. Just more relaxing for people to chat and enjoy the summers evening.
Dewsall Court was a place I won’t forget in a hurry, lovely friendly people, a house that feels like home from home and an event to blow your socks off. The majestic charm that the place offers is addictive and I really hope I get to return very soon.
