Hello 2022!
Lets kick start this year with Rebecca and Steven’s incredible fun-filled Elmore Court Wedding in Gloucestershire.
I had the pleasure of meeting and spending a week with Rebecca in Ibiza a couple of Summers ago during a workshop get-away with LoveHair , and what a crazy, laughter filled week it was. I have so many amazing memories from that week – one being that Rebecca has a big heart and loves to dance on the tables! So when I caught a glimpse her wedding previews earlier this year, it brought a massive smile to my face as it was everything I would expect it to be… a stunning Grace Loves lace dress, a surprise brass band, beautiful florals, wedding neons, dance off’s, the conga and just so much joy…
Over to Rebecca to tell us more about their day…
Rebecca & Steven…

How did you meet and get engaged?
We met through mutual friends 8 years ago. We got engaged on a rowing boat in Central Park, New York.
Was there an overall theme to your day?
We wanted everything to reflect us as a couple. We wanted it to feel fun, romantic and timeless.
How would you describe your day?
FUN, FUN, FUN!
How long were you planning it for?
2 years. Overall, it was really straight forward but due to Covid, we did have to reschedule our date from May 2021 to September 2021. We didn’t want any restrictions with the number of guests so we made the decision to postpone.
How was your day unique to you?
We had The New York Brass Band who surprised our guests and interrupted the ceremony with ‘All you need is love’ by The Beatles which was just amazing!
I find the ceremony bit a little serious so we wanted to have something to make our guests know we are wanting the day to feel fun, relaxed and that we wanted to PARTY!
Where was your wedding / reception venue and why did you pick it?
Elmore Court in Gloucester. I came across it on Instagram and instantly fell in love – then one of my client’s got married there and raved about how amazing the team were so we booked to go see it straight away – That was the only venue we saw.
Who was your wedding photographer and why did you chose them?
Albert Palmer – He previously photographed my sisters wedding in Seville and he was just amazing. He was so professional and relaxed and captured the day so perfect.
Your outfits! Tell us more about them! Was there any special details, accessories or reasons behind your choices?
My dress was from Grace Loves Lace and I went for gold sandals from Gucci at Net a Porter which were SO comfy!
My bridesmaids wore Rixo. I wanted something a bit more unbridesmaidy and playful and I also love the brand. The main thing was that the girls felt comfortable and confident and they absolutely loved them.
Tell us about your wedding flowers? Was there a particular theme or colour palette?
Steven left all the details to me and of course, I went for Pinks. I just find the colour so romantic and warm. We went for a mixture of Roses, Sweet Peas, Stocks, Delphinium and also lots of foliage designed by Sorori Design Florist.
Which decorations / props did you use on your wedding day? What was the overall look you were trying to achieve?
I love tablescaping so for the table, our stylist Lauren from Lauren Grey Wedding Stylist used vintage glasses, gold cutlery, pink linen napkins, gold candlestick holders with pink candles and then we had our bespoke food menus which were so cute!
We also had loads of candles and lanterns to make it romantic. A pink Neon wall sign above our cake saying ‘The Mickleys’ and gold fringing on the walls of the dance floor.
Let’s talk food! What style of food did you go for and why?
We had two menu’s – One normal one and one vegan as Steven is Vegan.
We let our guests mix and match which was a nice option.
Vegan Menu –
Starter – Vegan Pate with toasted, Crusty bread and Caramelized chutney,
Main – Mushroom Pithivier, Roast Potato’s, Carrots, Kale and Gravy,
Dessert – Vegan Chocolate Brownie with Dairy-Free Ice-cream,
Main Menu –
Starter – Haddock Fishcake with White wine and Chive Sauce,
Main – Roasted Lamb Fillet, Provencal Vegetables and Dauphinoise Potato,
Dessert – Vanilla Panna Cotta.
Cake! Who created your wedding cake and what theme did you go for?
Cherish Cakes by Katherine.
We wanted a naked, 3 tier cake with berries and foliage.
We chose a carrot cake, vegan lemon and chocolate with a salted caramel middle.
Tell us about your wedding stationery – who designed them for you and what style did you go for?
We used Laura from Urban Frame who was amazing. She designed our seating plan, welcome sign, table numbers and name cards. We used Polka Dot Paper for our save the dates and invites and then Sophie Elisabeth Design for our bespoke food menus.
Tell us more about your hair / make-up for your wedding. What kind of look did you want to achieve and was there any particular products/accessories you wanted to use?
I just wanted to look like me on the day so I had my hair down in loose waves. My friend who is also a hairdresser blowdried my hair for me and then I tonged my own hair which was actually really lovely. My makeup was done by Rikki Casey who is a friend and was attending the wedding – we went for soft, dewy skin, fluffy brows, a soft pink lip and warm eyes. She is incredible!
We also had my friend Brooke from Vanity Lounge do the bridesmaids hair and the lovely Charlotte Hair and Makeup doing the makeup. They were both so amazing.
How did you entertain your guests throughout the day?
We had a brass band throughout Canapes which was so much fun and then a DJ in the evening.
Looking back, what was the stand out moments of your day?
I would say the brass band playing at Canapes which really got the party started. The sun was shining and they was getting us doing the Limbo and the Conga. Even my Nan was up dancing!
The speeches were incredible! Everyone was laughing and crying!
Also when we done our first dance – it was just magical. We had a live version of our favourite song ‘When you were young’ by The Killers. When everyone came onto the dance floor it was really emotional and just lovely.
Do you have any advice for couples currently planning their wedding, for either the planning or the lead-up?
When planning, use Instagram to find your suppliers and just be organised with a spreadsheet. It makes it less stressful.
In the lead up – just relax! If you have booked good suppliers, they do it day in and day out and honestly have it all under control.
Also try to make your wedding reflect you as a couple as it makes it a bit more fun!
