Eclectic Neon Brighton Wedding Inspiration…
If you are looking for some vibrant Brighton wedding inspiration; the lovely Sally from Events By Design shares with us “A Wild Heart Tamed Me’ bridal shoot set in and around the Brighton streets and at the iconic Hotel Pelirocco. With alternative bridal wear, quirky grooms wear and pops of neon its a colour lovers dream…
Sally from Events By Design…
Jack and Jaz oooooze love. I wanted to capture their spirit, their passion and their love of something a bit quirky, rather than fake ceremony shots and stuffy poses. I knew that they had two really unique tattoos – the Jack and Queen of Hearts – and these really inspired my choice of concept. I wanted the shoot to show their connection and commitment to one another but in a way that was personal to them. Bringing together the playing card idea and their love of skulls meant that we could create something eclectic and unique.
I wanted to make the shoot burst with colour and so chose neon brights and an alternative electric palette. This complimented the venues; Hotel Pelirocco is an eclectic boutique hotel: the room itself is homage to Betty Page, the famous Pin-up girl which created a very sexy vibe; Meat Liquor which is wall-to-wall graffiti and neon and then finally the graffitied streets of Brighton itself.
How did you find the suppliers who made this concept come to life?
I have always liked Wayne Kahn’s photography style and was always drawn to a particular shoot he did which similarly demonstrated a couple’s edginess. I knew that Wayne would be the perfect choice to capture the different elements of Jaz and Jack as individuals and as a couple. I asked Gresham Blake to supply Jack’s outfits as I loved their unique take on traditional tailoring and experimental patterns. Jason and Rob from Dapper and Suave were the cherry on the cake. I knew that I wanted the Groom to feature just as much in this shoot as the Bride (I have a firm belief that the boys should be pampered just as much as the girls on a wedding day) and so getting the Dapper and Suave boys on board meant that, not only could they add their amazing bespoke accessories to the suits, but they were on hand to add their own styling touches and make Jack feel like a Prince too!
What details are your fav and why?
So many! I love the amazing hand-painted detailing on the cake which captures the couple’s tattoos, the applique and embroidery on Jaz’s veils, the fringing on Jaz’s trouser suit and the fabulous personalised leather jackets. One particular detail I was really excited about was the signage, created by Alice at All Frills Studio. I have followed her work for quite a while and knew that she would beautifully capture the ‘80’s electric vibe we were going for. Rather than having a traditional flat lay, the mix of acrylic and wood added a new dimension to the styling.
Do you have any styling tips for readers looking to emulate this shoot?
Do not be afraid of colour or neon on your wedding day – they add excitement and drama. If you are both looking to showcase your individuality and inject a bit of fun in your day, then maybe experiment with signage, your cake or a perhaps a splash of colour on the Groom’s attire? Lots of suppliers have ways to incorporate colour and quirky touches so don’t be afraid to just go for it!
What is it that makes your shoot unique?
That it shows individuality. All the suppliers were excited to experiment with the traditional elements of their craft and try new things. I love the way that we were able to capture different facets of the couple’s relationship – sexiness, passion, a little bit of danger and a whole lot of love.
What is the most important tip you have for couples planning their wedding?
Make it unique to you. Find a way of doing it in a way that reflects you as individuals and who you are as a couple. Weddings do not have to be traditional and stuffy but can really show your unique style.
