Romantic Country Retreat…
You’re in for a real treat with this wedding, folks!
Brought to us by one of MMU’s long running suppliers, Kushi Cars, their truly unique Indian Ambassador wedding car was a fantastic addition to this gorgeous Autumn wedding.
Simple but glamorous, and full of rich red and orange tones, you can’t help but fall in love with it all. Oh and, that dress – stunning!
Name of the couple: Laura & Shane
Wedding Venue: Egypt Mill, Gloucestershire
Suzie from Kushi Cars…
An intimate and glamorous Autumnal wedding at a renovated mill in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Shane and Laura, in a classically beautiful Maggie Sottero gown, show how to weave the seasons’ unique colours into an Autumn wedding day. The groom’s tweed… their fiery flame haired looks…the naked apple cake… even using dried leaves as confetti! This October wedding has it all.
Laura & Shaun…
Tell us how you met…
Met through mutual friends. Shane had just turned 18. Each had a different girl/boyfriend but expectantly got together when became we single. Been a couple for 4 years when we got married. Together 2 years when Shane proposed.
What were your main hopes for the day…
The venue was rustic, romantic and close to home for us – a hidden gem! We both like vintage/romantic styles, tend to have old fashioned values. Enjoy rustic settings and Autumn being full of colour and same time of year we became a couple. Both non-religious so we wanted a civil ceremony.
What was your favourite part of the day…
The first look – the moment we laid eyes on each other. I was so excited to see Shane and become his wife. The both of us were absolutely blown away with one another’s look.
How was your day unique…
Our wedding car was totally unique. A vintage Ambassador car from India, decorated inside and out with flowers, sequins and beads. My Mum and I had a relaxing journey to the venue which calmed my nerves. After the ceremony, we rode in the car for some photos. Shane and I had some time together with our photographer to capture some moments of us away from all the excitement. It was just enough time for us to collect our thoughts and enjoy the rush of having just said our vows to one another before returning to the party.
What was your biggest expense…
Maggie Sottero ‘Montice’ from Wedding Days of Cheltenham. The colour was perfect for time of year! Style/shape. Beautiful detail. Distinctive look for wedding dress which made it feel my own unlike others previously tried on.
How did you save money…
My Aunty baked, assembled and decorated our wedding cake. We used Pinterest for ideas and bought things like the cake topper from Etsy to save money.
What was it like working with your Photographer…
We chose Sheryl Fish from Oobaloos Photography. She was professional, beyond talented and calming. She got to know Shane and I and captured all the big moments whilst maintaining our comfort and personalities.
Advice to any couples about to get married…
Stay in charge – don’t let people try to change your dream vision of your day. Include your Groom! Be a bride but stay true to yourself, be comfortable with how you look in dress/hair/makeup. Try to enjoy the planning despite challenges and obstacles to come.
