A huge welcome to the Rowan at Parrot & Pineapple as she joins our recommended list of incredible UK wedding photographers.

Rowan at Parrot & Pineapple…
First Day of School introduction of yourself…
I’m Rowan. Photographer and dog walker at Parrot & Pineapple.
Tell us what you love…
Dogs. Feminism. Cake. Things organised in rainbow colour order. Lush green leaves. Eastenders. The smell of the London Underground. Authenticity. Urban life. Brutalist architecture. Neon lights. Leggings.
Tell us a bit about your HQ…
My office is the spare room at home. My big dog George has a bed in there and likes to join in on client calls. The walls are decorated with my photographs and lots of art post cards. All my folders are rainbow coloured and of course organised in rainbow order! There’s always a stash of sweet things somewhere within reach.
What made you start up the business?
I’ve been a portrait photographer for a few years, but I love the energy and variety that a wedding brings. I have lived in London for 8 years and after falling in love with the urban environment I wanted to capture fun loving wedding couples with the artistic variety that a city offers.
What do you love most about your job?
The variety! Genuinely every wedding is different. I love meeting new people, understanding their story and getting involved in a good party.
What makes you unique?
I specialise in urban weddings because I love the city environment. There is always colour, lots of different and interesting architecture, and it’s no big deal if it rains on your wedding day!
Who is your ideal customer?
Couples who are planning on signing some paperwork and just having a great time with their loved ones in their favourite urban location.
What advice do you give to make sure people book the right suppliers for their day?
Get to know the supplier as a person. Do you like them? Do you believe in their values? Do you want to help them achieve their dream? When looking at different photographers be sure to check out at least two full weddings, not just what you see on their blog.
What inspires you?
My peers! I gain a lot from being with my fellow wedding photographers. I strongly believe in community not competition.
Projects you are most proud of or your proudest moment?
I volunteer my time from the animal charity Mayhew (www.themayhew.org) and this year I provided all of the photography for their recent rebrand. I worked in a documentary style photographing all the different elements of their wonderful work as a charity. It was such a privilege to be asked and then to also see everything that they do from behind the scenes.
What’s your top on the day wedding advice?
It can be really easy to get caught up and feel overwhelmed when planning a wedding. Remember that it is completely normal to feel like that; but keep it top of mind that the most important thing is signing paperwork with your partner and having a nice time with your loved ones. Everything else is a bonus.
What makes a great wedding?
Spending time with the people that you love the most. I truly believe that the people who are there always make any party. What could be better than having time away from the distractions of life with all the people that you love wishing you and your new partner well in your future together?!
