A Chic & Stylish London Wedding…

Happy Wednesday Folks!

Got a lovely wedding for you today; a stylish, colourful London celebration which was captured by the lovely Binky Nixon Photography.

With tons of cool handmade details and some wicked Foxes masks, its a beautiful wedding in the big smoke!

Was there any theme or inspiration for your wedding day?

There was no theme as such, but we are both designers, so I wanted there to be an element of that shown in the table settings. Each person had a different coloured Pantone card with their menu choices on and they were edged with copper – a colour that we used on our wedding stationary and throughout the wedding.

How did you find love?

We met at the Royal College of Art, London while we were studying for our Masters.

How did you try to make your day unique?

I tried to make it as unique to us as possible by designing and making as much of what we needed/wanted myself. This included the wedding stationary, the bouquet, the flower girls’ tutu’s, the button holes, the flower plank that hung from the beams, all the flowers in the venue, the table settings, the large snack jars, the kids treat bags and ice cream jars and the wedding cakes… I think I maybe took on too much…but it was worth it!

What did you wear?

I wore the most amazing Rime Arodaky skirt and a little camisole top. I wanted something simple but elegant. The skirt was beautifully cut & had a gorgeous lace train & scalloped waistband. My shoes were the softest pink with a sparkly toe. My flower crown was made by Emma from Blossom & Bramble florists in Bedfordshire. I wanted a softer, slightly bohemian look with my hair down and the flower crown.

Jamie wore a 3-piece navy suit & navy polka dot tie from ASOS and tan brogues. Slightly hipster, but he looked very handsome! Joey (our 2yr old) wore matching navy trousers and waistcoat and tan brogues, too!

What were your favourite details about the day?

I loved the flower girls’ tutu’s with their little glitter Converse pumps & Jamie and Joey’s matching outfits. I was also really happy with how the flower plank turned out. It looked great hanging from the beams in the venue. We are both glad we included the fox masks that Jamie and I wore to get some great photos. Some people were skeptical, but I think the photos are amazing and we wanted something a bit quirky and creative. We had the coolest Photo Booth to capture some very entertaining pictures too. Oh, and the magician we had to perform throughout dinner blew our minds!

What advice would you give a couple about to get married?

It’s really great to want to add your own touch and stamp on things, but try not to take on too much yourself. Make a list and scrub out the unrealistic, or don’t be afraid to ask for some help. It is not worth wearing yourself out and staying up all hours before the big day.

What was it like working with your photographer?

I went to school with Binky, but hadn’t seen her since we left, which was quite a long time ago; so seeing her again for the first time on our wedding day was a treat in itself. The way Binky works is really special. She manages to blend in seamlessly so that you don’t even notice she is there snapping away half the time; and by doing so she managed to captured such amazing natural shots of us and our guests – which is exactly what we had asked for.
