Lauren…
What was your inspiration behind the shoot?
The inspiration behind this shoot was to bring together venders that believe in the same mantra. That couples should be able to do their wedding their way! There are a few alternative ideas in the shoot to inspire couples to have what they want at their wedding. For instance we had a very quirky single tier cake, I think that a lot of couples think that they should be expected to have a big three tiered cake. Why? It hardly gets eaten!! You don’t have to go crazy. We used calligraphy on foliage for name places, stationery can get pricey and can also risk looking samey. This is such a cool way of having place names! Go rummaging in your garden!! Trainers on the groom instead of shoes. Because why should everyone have to follow traditions? The wedding day should represent the couples’ style and personality.
We are also very forward thinking about being eco friendly and sustainable. All the vendors involved are environmentally conscious. The dresses from Indie Bride London are sustainably made. Also all the fabrics and silks from Mia Sylvia are eco friendly. Lucy from Green and Envy tries to obtain her flowers without plastic wrap form her suppliers. Lauren Henson Photography only uses an album company that sends albums in fully recyclable and biodegradable packaging.
I found all of the suppliers through instagram by searching alternative suppliers in London. I reached out to suppliers that looked as if they created something a little different to the traditions. Everyone that came together had the same views on how a wedding should all be about the couple and their personalities.
Favourite details from the shoot?
My favourite detail of the shoot is the hanging wall flower arrangement by Green and Envy. It is amazing!!!! |It’s just so different from anything I have every seen displayed at a wedding before. And it creates such a feature of the space.
Top tips for couples wanting to recreate this look?
I think the most important thing to remember when styling you’re own wedding is to bring in your own personal style and your personality of you as a couple. Bring in suppliers that you connect with! If you connect with your suppliers on a personal level they are more likely to understand your vision.
Do your wedding your way!!
