Elopement inspiration with retro, disco vibes..
Happy Friday all!
Sequin lovers, bohemian hearts, and free-spirited couples, you’re going to love todays bridal inspiration; a colouful Summer elopement shoot put together by MMU supplier Naomi from Vintage Camper Booths and Want The Day.
Over to Naomi to talk us through her ideas which includes a stunning tasselled Shikoba wedding dress, sequin party dress, glitter balls, Donna Summer vibes and of course, her incredible VW Campervan!
Naomi from Vintage Camper Booths…
Where did you get your inspiration from?
Being lovers of all things Retro & Colourful and owning a fleet of Original 1970’s Beetles & Campervans, we have always wanted to create a fun styled photo shoot with a real hippie Seventies vibe and now seemed the perfect time to do it, what with all the wedding restrictions we are facing during these unprecedented times ☹ We wanted to evoke that feeling of freedom that you get from an Elopement Wedding, to just be able to jump into your VW Camper and drive off together to a gorgeous field somewhere at sunset and say your vows and celebrate your one for one another. Then we thought why not continue the wedding celebrations into the night with some seventies disco diva loving feels!
How did you find the suppliers who made this concept come to life?
We have admired Vicki’s (By Vicki Photography) work for a long time now. She is one super talented photographer and her work is awesome. She specialises in all things colourful and so she was perfect for the shoot!
Kate at Funky Flowers is a local florist and her work is top class. She has such a creative flair, so we naturally chose her. She totally understood what we were trying to achieve with our Colourful Hippie Seventies Shoot and exceeded our expectations on the day!
We approached Shikoba Bride for a stunning Two-Piece Wedding Dress (Payton) we had been admiring and they were very busy with upcoming ‘Trunk Shows’, so suggested we contact one of their Stockists. We chatted with Claire from The White Yard Boutique, who loved the idea and as soon as she knew the shoot was being Photographed by Vicki, was fully onboard in letting us use this gorgeous dress!
We also sourced various items and accessories from friends, our existing wardrobes and a few online purchases. We called upon a great friend for his Original 1970’s Corduroy Flares and personally think they looked wicked on the model Sooney!
The model Hannah did her own make up (due to covid restrictions) which looked gorgeous and kindly agreed to dye her hair Pink for the day! Her hair was styled by Leanne from The Shed, Sunningdale.
What details are your favourite, and why?
We were blessed with the field we were allowed to carry out this shoot in, so when we set up the colourful wedding elopement ceremony area next to our VW Campervan, we were overwhelmed with how gorgeous it all looked in the glorious sunshine. We wanted long flowing grass and a sunset-view, and we certainly got that. It was dreamy!
The mirrored disco glitter balls … let’s not forget to mention them!
What is it that makes your shoot unique?
Blending a chilled Seventies Hippie Elopement concept with a colourful vibe to really create punchy colourful photos. We mixed it up by incorporating 70’s Disco Mirrored Glitter Ball Vibes. Donna Summer ‘I feel love’ all the way!
This is something a little different to other styled shoots we have seen and the kind of themed wedding we personally would love to be a part of one day.
What’s the most important tip you have for couples planning their wedding?
Pinterest Board & an open mind!
