Disco Fever…
What a way to start the week… we have this incredible collaboration between the very talented Camera Hannah and our very own alternative bespoke dress designer and Mr & Mrs Unique supplier, Jo from The Couture Company to share with you.
This edgy bridal shoot combines my love of creative photography, disco and glitter and makes references to fashions of the 1970’s and Studio 54. Having previously featured their last project (which you can see here,) I knew it would be something I had to share with you! Over to Hannah to tell us more…
Camera Hannah…
I’ve been having a love affair with disco music this year, from the over-played classics that I’ve been finally actually listening to and falling in love with, to rare vintage tracks and new disco-infused indie music. This obsession got me thinking about creating some disco wedding inspiration for alternative couples.
The aesthetic was inspired by the fashions of the 70’s, Studio 54, with a modern edge and visualising the sound of the best disco music: glittering layers, high energy and lots of attitude. If you’re thinking this all sounds like a ridiculously complicated vision, then you’re absolutely right. Luckily I had Jo from The Couture Company to work with, who just completely got it and ran with the idea, bringing her own signature creativity and skill.
The gowns were extraordinary, with beautiful glittering layers and colourful embellishments and their new range of custom embellished jackets were perfect for the aesthetic. Jo brought in a host of talented people to help us, with hair and make up by Nicola Honey, make up and ultra glitter from Wish Upon A Sparkle, props from Grande luxe co and accessories by Crown and Glory, Jane Bowler and Working Clasp Jewellery.
The day itself went by in a sparkling blur and seeing our ideas come to life as models Holly Alanna Williams, Lillith La’Farce and Stephanie May swooshed around in the coloured lights and smoke as LCD Soundsystem pumped out of the speakers was surreal and awesome, it looked like something from another planet.
My favourite details were the embellished jackets, accessories and glitter make up, these are such easy things for couples to take inspiration from and apply to their day to add a touch of disco… whether that be being super bold and going all the way with it or perhaps a glitter bar for guests to get sparkled up for a night of partying! Add in lots of coloured light and reflective surfaces and voila, you find yourself inside a magical disco ball!
