Winter Wedding Planning with Elmore Court…
There are so many delights that come along with a winter wedding… roaring fires, a faux fur coat or customised jacket, delicious hearty seasonal food, the opportunity to explore incredible lighting and even the possibility of snow! The thing is, if you’re prepared then everything should run smoothly.
Today the amazing and experienced team at Gloucestershire wedding venue Elmore Court, share with us their top tips for planning a cosy winter wedding…
Elmore Court…
It’s no surprise that winter weddings are becoming more and more popular; with gorgeous crisp blue skies, stunning sunsets, candles and twinkly lights it’s the perfect season for romance!
But a winter wedding takes careful planning if you want to ensure guests are warm enough to enjoy it to the fullest, and luckily for you we’re here to help you do just that!
Find the right venue…
Elmore Court is an idyllic winter wedding venue, think gorgeous stately home, roaring open fires, the comfiest of sofas and a hidden party venue tucked behind the splendour of the main house; complete with state of the art lighting and sound system!
You and up to 40 guests also get to stay onsite so celebrations can continue long into the early hours…the beauty of Elmore is that it feels like your home for as long as you hire it!
Lighting…
The dark winter nights are the perfect backdrop to have fun with lighting so you can go to town…
Use fairy lights to create a magical scene inside and out. Add lanterns to the trees to create a light canopy for some gorgeous romantic photos. Hanging a disco ball in the branches lends a truly enchanted feeling to the grounds.
If you really want a wow factor to get the party started then why not go all out and project a lightshow onto the house?
Be prepared for any weather…
We hope it’ll be all blue skies and crisp frost, but if you’re lucky enough to get snow too you’ll want something more than strappy heels on your feet. Make sure you bring a pair of stylish trainers, and maybe even some wedding wellies too!
Elmore Court provide umbrellas for you and your guests to borrow so that’s one thing you can tick off your list!
Grab your coat…
One thing is for sure with a winter wedding; it’s going to be cold out there so you’ll want something to put on when moving from one place to another.
Jackets for the bridal party are the latest and most stylish wedding must-have, even better if you decide to personalise them. What will you choose; distressed denim, cool leather, or a fabulous fur?
A coat rail of warm faux fur coats and hats, and baskets of blankets is also a nice touch to keep your guests cosy, your local charity shop is a great place to pick up bargains and is a good way to give back too!
Don’t forget to use the outside spaces…
Create a warm outside space with a roaring fire pit, cosy blankets and a s’more station too as a lovely interactive treat when you need a little rest from dancing.
Warming drinks…
We can’t think of anything better than being served warm seasonal drinks after coming in from the fresh crisp outside air, our favourites are hot toddies and mulled wine. If you want to offer something non-alcoholic why not try a warm fruity punch or a luxurious hot chocolate?
The winter feast…
Treat guests to some hearty, seasonal food. Elmore Court are all for supporting their local producers and even grow some of their own food to create the most amazing seasonal menus.
We advise serving delicious hot canapés during the drinks reception; our favourites are the miniature roast dinner canapés.
Winter is all about comfort food so think about offering some delicious treats into the evening – check out this donut wall!
Party time!!
With the nights drawing in, you can start an evening party that bit sooner, which means you have longer to enjoy it! How about getting a fabulous band to start performing during dinner to get everyone in the mood? The large picture windows in the Gillyflower double up as mini-stages for performers…
What better way to get everyone warmed up?!
We hope we’ve inspired you for your winter wedding plans, we hope you have a magical day…with a little dusting of snow perhaps for your own winter wonderland wedding!
