Styling Tips From World Inspired Tents Autumn Open Weekend...

Back in October Mr & Mrs Unique members, World Inspired Tents, held their Autumn open weekend for couples looking to get married.

They were joined by a whole host of fantastic suppliers, including Knots & Kisses who are also part of the MMU team, and went above and beyond to make their tipis look out of this world! Natalie from Meadowsweet Vintage and Jan from Granny Janny’s Bunting were on hand to style the event with beautiful and practical looks to inspire the couple’s for their own big day.

Natalie and Jan have been kind enough to talk us through their designs and share some styling tips. Over to you, ladies…

Natalie & Jan…

The delicious aroma of fresh rosemary, sage and thyme mingles with wafts of lavender, eucalyptus and wood smoke. We’re in tipi heaven, otherwise known as the World Inspired Tents Open Weekend.

Being asked to style this event is both a privilege and an immense pleasure, which both of us have enjoyed now on several occasions. World Inspired Tents requested a green and white natural theme this time, which we interpreted in several different ways across the tables, from very rustic through to elegant glamour with flickering candlelight, white bunting and fairy lights as unifying elements throughout the space.

We collaborated on planning the whole look, in which we aimed to be inspirational and practical. We wanted to show what’s possible aesthetically while ‘keeping it real’ so that people could envisage how their own tables could work with our designs within a range of budgets.

Glamour was in abundance on a round table topped with a crisp white cloth and lace runners. Natalie chose a magnificent urn from Virginia’s Vintage Hire, which was filled with a stunning floral arrangement by Brompton Buds. Gold edged plates and glasses from the Meadowsweet Vintage range were complemented by elegant stationery from Knots & Kisses. Natalie finished the look with sprigs of olive, napkins with green velvet ribbons and chair decorations bursting with foliage and herbs.

For our second round table, Jan chose a rustic theme and added texture with hessian runners, on which she printed a wildflower design. The centrepiece comprised three wooden candlesticks on a log slice encircled by herbs, grapes & limes, which were also included in botanical infusion drinks. Jan emphasised the natural theme by using hand-made paper for place names and wildflower favours.

The green and neutral palette continued across all the long tables. Natalie made a sumptuous eucalyptus and herb table runner, punctuated by candle vases and edged with sparkling votives. She added a touch of glamour to the place settings with pearl embellished, grey silk ribbon tied around elegant menu cards by Knots & Kisses.

On a second long table, Jan interpreted the green palette with an ‘eco-green’ theme, using a hessian runner under potted herbs, lavenders and heathers so they could be recycled into homes and gardens after the wedding or party. Bottles for herb-infused drinks, jars for candles and ivy leaves as place names completed Jan’s scented ‘eco-green’ table.

Natalie designed and made a statement woodland frame with hanging tea-lights for a whimsical, rustic table. She used bread rolls wrapped in muslin with sprigs of lavender and added just a touch of glitz with gold & white china from the Meadowsweet Vintage range. Natalie chose a simple hessian runner to display pretty floral pieces under glass domes by Brompton Buds and completed the look with rustic style stationery from Knots & Kisses.

Jan created a bright, white and light table using starched doilies, lots of candles and white flowers, contrasting with the fresh greens of ferns and herbs. She made pretty place settings of lavender sprigs, grosgrain ribbon and menus on hand-made paper. By keeping to a simple colour palette, Jan’s home-made jam favours sat happily alongside decadent Champagne cocktails in sugar-frosted glasses.

We kept three round tables very simple, in order for those to focus on the stylish linen, china, cutlery & glasses from South West Event Hire and innovative centerpieces by The Paper Florist and Brompton Buds, who also created a breathtaking, hanging garden of flowers, foliage and herbs.

The chill-out area of low seats and cushions stayed cosy with its crackling fire-pit and was enhanced by Za Za Homes lanterns and delicate tassels from Pom Pom Studio.

Natalie also styled part of the entrance to the tipis, using a vintage market cart from Virginia’s Vintage Hire. She used fruit crates, pot plants and lanterns from Za Za Homes with a seating plan by Knots & Kisses to create an eye-catching display.
