What a wedding we have for you today!!!

I was blown away when I first caught a glimpse of the wedding of Raphaella & Jedd, which took place at Easy City Studios in Cape Town. I love all the colours, the tonnes of flowers used, the italian Dolce & Gabbana vibe to the styling, THAT wedding dress and the fact the gorgeous couple are party lovers!

Why you love this wedding…

I really loved the atmosphere of Raphi and Jedd’s wedding. A lot of the guests were creative rockstars and really knew how to throw a party and have a good time.

What were the couple’s requirements…

Raphi and Jedd’s requirements to me as their photographer was to capture their day in a natural and candid way. They wanted only two posed family photographs. They didn’t want couple or bridal party photos, but instead wanted me to rather capture the real moments of the day as they unfolded in a true & authentic way. This was a perfect fit for me. This is the way i love to shoot weddings.

Favourite details of the day…

The beautiful handmade chuppah that the couple were married beneath had a patchwork from each person that was important to them. I thought this was such a special touch that made the ceremony even more sentimental than it already was. And as for that Dolce&Gabbana’esque red velvet couch with the fabric and flower wall background… you don’t get a much better setting for bedeken photos than that !

Favourite moment of the day…

My favourite moment of the day was when Raphi’s family started a flash mob at the reception including Raphi’s 97 year old grandmother waving her walking stick around in the air { like she just don’t care ! } Raphi and Jedd were caught so off guard. It was a super funky vibrant way to kick start off the party time of the wedding. Watching that part of the wedding in their wedding film still gives me goosebumps and a big smile.

Inspiration & Styling…

The wedding had a kind of Portuguese / Italian, Dolce and Gabbana feel to it. The rich red velvet bedeken couch and backdrop flower wall were two elements that created this particular look and feel.

From the flowers, to the backdrop, to the centrepieces, all of the colours, made up mostly of cobalt blues and deep reds, were bold and bright which perfectly represented the vibe of the entire day.

Raphi’s floral arrangements included more raw vegetables than flowers. Not only did this add a unique and creative touch to the final look, but she donated the vegetables to an orphanage the following day, which was such a clever idea – having a beautifully decorated wedding as well as donating food to a worthy cause.
