Hannah From Rocksalt Photography…
The shoots origins were simple – The venue approached me for to ask for a few promo shots – after seeing the space I knew that I had to create and amazing shoot in this space. The gallery is filled with Andrews incredible sculptures and other art works. The giant cosmic egg stops every visitor in their tracks as they enter the building.
I wanted to put a team together that I knew would want to bend the rules a little, I didn’t want to go down the traditional wedding route as there is nothing traditional about this space.
I contacted Becky from R&R Weddings + Events, she created a mood board of DREAMS – we knew this was going to be different to anything we had done before for a wedding venue! Our brief was colourful and bold – so that’s where we went…..
We wanted the shoot to be more editorial with a hint of bridal – finding models wasn’t straight forward. We wanted a real couple but after 2 couples dropped out, we decided to go with a female model and a male model – they didn’t have a relationship until meeting on the day – so now, we were dealing with a socially distanced shoot for a wedding shoot?!!! SAY WHAT??!
I had to be very nifty when posing and shooting at angles to make to the models look as if they were closer than they actually were!
But looking back it really challenged us all – we could have have arranged a couple and it would have been a shoot we’d all done a hundred times over – this shoot had promised to be unique from the start – bring it!
Our female model Sachae changed from a bridal to party look adorned in Andrew Logan jewellery and The W Collective veils, collars and accessories. Jack who is used to rocking a pair of heels wore W Collective capes along with collars and veils too.
We wanted to create inspo for individuals that wanted to scream THIS IS ME on their wedding day and also show how the grooms can go extra too.
Becky R&R wedding and Events worked tirelessly on creating the colour board, stationary and the table styling where she made the candle holder that ran down the centre and finished it off with mirror balls and florals from Donna – Pheasant Botanica. The colourful geometric shapes at our ceremony area were amazing!
Jess from W Collective styled the models throughout the shoot using her incredible accessories and having access to Andrew’s jewellery made her squeak with excitement a few times! Her crowning moment came when she addd her blue veil to the pink dress – OMG – DYING! She also added in and incredible head piece from Ciara Monahan and a set of incredible earrings by Chalk Jewellery.
Hannah Carson MUA make up was INCREDIBLE, going from the fresh bridal face to thick pink eye liner and lips for the party look and Jacks androgynous inspired make up took our breath away. She works with so much enthusiasm and nails it every single time!! Queen.
The florals by Donna of Pheasant Botanica were the most colourful i’ve seen her do! The bouquet was stunning and the installations in the gallery space complimented + softened the harsh lines of the art work and R&R’s installations.
The Cake – Sam from Sams Sweet Treats appeared with her cake that she had designed and placed it in the middle of our ceremony space – we all stopped and had a wow moment!
THE PINK DRESS – HELLO!! This dress was made and designed by Cheryl – The Dress Makers Daughter. We said – bright, frills, big and left the rest to her. She created to most stunning frock, over 150, of tulle frills went on that bad boy! I hope her fingers have recovered!
Bridal two piece – by Seni Dey – this was perfect for our bridal look, we didn’t want anything traditional but we did want a bridal look (this was a shoot to promote a wedding venue after all)
