Colourful, Flower Filled Day…
Today I have a very special wedding to share with you; Lizzie + Joe’s colourful, handmade, flower filled wedding in Presteigne, Wales.
The bride Lizzie is Creative Director of Early Hours; an innovative London florist team who create incredible floral installations for some super cool venues across the city and also for couples that are looking for something really unique and creative for their own wedding day.
We’ve been lucky to work closely with the Early Hours team over the past few years; working on some amazing projects and photo shoots that have gone and to be featured on some of the most leading wedding editorial and blogs across the world. Not only do I find Lizzie herself totally awe-inspiring, she is a total sweetheart and has become a great friend.
Lizzie has always looked outside of the box with her creations, so we knew the design for their wedding day was always going to be spectacular… and it was! It was like some magical flower and colour bomb explosion; with ribbon tied chairs and tree table centres, rainbow forest of hand painted birch trees, balloon filled ceilings, flower filled baths and fairy dust and lucky pennies for the guests… An epic rainbow wonderland!
Lizzie and Joe asked talented duo Maria + Nick at Studio1208 (again another Mr & Mrs Unique supplier) to take their wedding photos and film… and what an incredible job they have done at capturing the emotions, colour and love <3
You MUST watch their wedding trailer… seriously not a dry eye in the house!!
Lizzie + Joe…
How did you find love?
In restaurant Gordon Ramsay, I was the florist and Joe was a waiter.
How did you try to make your day unique?
I guess the most unique part of our day was the random combination of different colours, vibes, music and entertainment. This wasn’t deliberate, it just happened; and as a result the wedding ended up being more interesting than we anticipated!
I run a floristry business called Early Hours in London, so I knew my guests were expecting to see a lot of floral decoration. So I decided to make my church service and dress all about the flowers (my 8 bridesmaids had also worn a different coloured floral crown each); but at the venue I wanted to focus on ribbons, moss and glitter, rather than your classic floristry (I didn’t want to feel like I was at work)!
For my tables, my team created tree sculptures covered in hanging rainbow coloured ribbons; and we had moss table runners, scattered multi coloured Pom Poms and tiny bottles of fairy dust glitter as wedding favours. We also made our own Confetti using the same Pom Poms, sequins and glitter.
I filled my dance floor ceiling with balloons, and released them later in the day. My table plan was a series of planted birdcages and the ceiling of our marquee was a ribbon waterfall. It was a really beautiful colour explosion. Outside the marquee entrance we created a rainbow forest of hand painted birch trees. I’m very proud that the wedding decorations came together the way they did, I wasn’t really certain it would work as a whole concept – but it totally did thanks to my talented floral team!
What did you wear?
My wedding dress was created by my friends at Satin and Silk in Hereford. They literally made me my dream wedding dress. It was created by using a beautiful classic super-sized wedding dress that they found for me in their ‘last season’ selection. They then turned it into the dress that I was seeing in my dreams by adding in hundreds of extra metres of the palest green tulle, and then hand stitching hundreds of flowers on. They went above and beyond with my dress, and I still can’t quite believe they made it so perfect for me. I felt like a modern-day movie princess!
What were your favourite details about the day?
My dress, the floral cocktails, the awesome food, my cake installation, the music, the enchanted tree table arrangements… everything was a favourite detail to be honest! I literally couldn’t choose.
What advice would you give a couple about to get married?
Don’t pick a theme, just pick out the things you like- it just comes together better that way and isn’t forced. Invest in your photography and videography as it lasts a lifetime. Lastly Planning weddings are stressful… try to enjoy it!
What was it like working with your photographer?
I LOVE THEM- I love everything about Maria & Nick at Studio 1208 and what they do is second to none. They are absolutely faultless.
