Emma from Epic Love Story…
Why you love this wedding…
From the moment I met these two I knew we were a match! I loved their sense of adventure and new there wedding would be little bit different! They are so relaxed and fun and their wedding was the same.
Favourite details of the day…
I loved the prep venue so much, it was like a photographers dream! Coloured houses, cacti, a pool; all set in a botanical garden and the bridesmaids prep outfits were so cute! Tropical shorts and glittery tops – I was in heaven! The wedding venue was just as beautiful and they had an outdoor ceremony and outdoor first dance, which i actually think everyone should do! Weather permitting ;)
The food was out of this world, they kindly treated me to the same 5 course dinner and it was the best wedding food I’ve ever had! The dessert was very Heston style!
Favourite moment of the day…
Too many to choose! Prep portraits with the girls in the botanical gardens, the priest who was hilarious, getting muddy in the orchard with the bridal party and the outdoor first dance to name but a few!
Fi + Shane…
Tell us how you got engaged…
We had always wanted to go to Vietnam and finally got the chance to go in Dec 2015. It was the trip of a lifetime! We were on an amazing dragon boat for a 3 day trip along Halong bay. On one of the nights we were having a secret cave dinner. And I must admit, I thought if “it’s” going to happen it’ll probably be then. But that day we went kayaking and swimming around the bay. Then we stopped at this tiny beach for a break. As everyone was trying to set off, Shane was giving them a hand pushing their kayaks off the beach -how helpful I thought! As I was putting my life jacket on, my back was turned. Shane was taking ages to come over (he’d taped the ring up so much he couldn’t get it out of his pocket!) to our kayak so I shouted after him, turning to see him on one knee!! All I remember saying was oh my God, oh my god and hugging him…apparently it was about 10 minutes until I actually said yes.
How would you describe your wedding decoration?
The best word would probably be eclectic! We love trinket-y type decor and didn’t have set colours in mind we just knew we wanted colour! Shane made quite a few of the added touches and I reckon my mum raided every charity shop in Herts & Essex to find all the little bits for the tables but as the venue was so unique and beautiful we didn’t feel we needed to over do the rest of the decoration.
How was your day unique?
For us, we felt the entertainment and food made it unique. Andre and Viodance were phenomenal and her LED dress and violin just made the evening extra special. The desert looked so much like a lemon some guests even sent it back having only eaten the middle, not realising if was actually chocolate!
What made you chose your wedding venue?
I was looking for venue ideas in Denia on Pinterest of all places and found images of the cave….instantly we both knew we’d love it. So when we went out to Spain, it was the only venue we looked at as it was even better in person. We didn’t want to make our guests travel between ceremony and reception so if ticked that box. Plus it permitted us to have a Catholic wedding for Shane, yet be outside like I had always envisaged… the perfect meet in the middle!
Tell us about your wedding outfits and why you picked them…
I found my dress after going up to Norwich to spend the day with my granny and mum to do a spot of shopping…not thinking I’d find it. When we found the dress closer to home it was twice the price! So back to Norwich we went. I loved that if felt Spanishy.
What was your budget?
We always said we would spend the chunk of our budget on food and entertainment as they were the most important to us. Being in Spain we feel we got more for our money on the food front.
How did you save money?
Paying for bits each month and starting the process early… I even bought my bridesmaids and mothers’ gifts in Vietnam.
What was it like working with Emma from Epic Love Story?
Awesome…she made us feel so relaxed from the get go, was very easy to get along with and she really helped out on the day, calming any anxieties that cropped up. It was lovely getting to know her and prancing around in Brighton at our love shoot! As she has the same likes as us we knew the pictures would come out fab and we weren’t disappointed.
Advice to any couples about to get married?
Try to set aside only a couple of days per week that you talk about wedding stuff to each other… it’s easy to get consumed and life still has to go on! Once you get to the morning of the wedding there’s nothing more you can do so just enjoy everyone around you and all the little moments, as that’s what all your hard work has been about!
