Colour pop, festival wedding vibes…
Are you ready to check out some colourful, fun wedding inspo?! Well, today’s post has it in bundles. The team behind the shoot added personality to the day by choosing vibrant colours, unique wedding furniture, props and lots of pretty blooms.
Poppy from Your Best Day Ever asked couple Charles and Benjamin to model for the shoot who sadly had their own wedding postponed back in July due to lockdown. It was the perfect opportunity to get some pre-wedding photos! We talk Poppy about the inspiration behind the shoot and also to Charles and Benjamin about lockdown, changing their wedding plans, and what they are planning for the future…
Poppy from Your Best Day Ever…

I just love this festival fun shoot! It is full of fun and laughter – the two key ingredients of a wedding! The goal of this shoot was to showcase how weddings can be full of colour, fun, and uniqueness. No wedding should ever be the same and you can see from this shoot how personal elements e.g. colours and props have been implemented to really make the day special! The suppliers who helped make this shoot so amazing were fantastic. They completely exceeded all of my expectations and this really is shown in the images. The colours work together so perfectly and each supplier brought their own unique twist to the shoot.

The only rule for your wedding is to have fun! This shoot shows that not every wedding has to run by ‘the wedding rules’! Break those rules, throw away the rule book! I definitely march to the beat of my own drum and like to call myself the modern and honest wedding planner! I believe that your wedding should be so personal and unique to you. Therefore, my advice is to start your wedding planning by sitting down and making sure that you both understand what is most important to you for your wedding day. Is this the entertainment, the photos, the décor, the food? Whatever this may be, focus on this rather than finding lots of ‘perfect’ wedding images! The main goal is for your wedding day to be full of laughter and happiness! Remember, it’ll be your best day ever!

I love how all of the colours work so perfectly together and this just sums up the happiness that you can see on everyone’s faces! My key styling tips that I tell everyone… be unique! I did not plan for this shoot to be like every other one out there! I wanted to show some personality through the colour and unique furniture so that ‘guests’ can walk in and say ‘this is so them’ and who doesn’t want their guests to think that!
Charles & Benjamin…

Tell us a bit about you and how long you have been together…
We have been together for just over 4.5 years. We met when neither of us was looking for anything and just clicked straight away, it was definitely a case of right place and right time. We both work in hospitality but I trained in musical theatre and Ben trained to be a language teacher.
When was your original wedding date and what kind of day had you planned?
We were originally due to get married on July 11th. We had 3 different venues but it was all very relaxed. Our ceremony was going to be in a chapel in Norwich, we were going to have pizza for food then had a medieval undercroft for our reception with a band.

How did you both feel when you realised that lockdown meant you would have to postpone your wedding day?
We were both happy and sad. We still had quite a few details that needed to be sorted so the extra time was amazing. Obviously everyone is going to be sad about things that were postponed in lockdown but no one could help it. All we could do is ride the wave and wait.
How was the process of changing your plans and do you have any advice to couples still trying to navigate their way through this?
All of our venues cancelled for us towards the start of lockdown which made things very easy. We then just took the time to look at other ideas and options. As for advice, we are all in this together. Just be kind to each other and make the most of this slightly slower pace of life we are living at the moment. Work with the venues, you’re not the only couple having to plan things again so they will appreciate someone understanding their position as well. These can be worrying times but we can get through this if we help each other.

Do you have a new wedding date sorted? And if so, what are your plans?
We don’t, it is still too risky to organise a wedding and we wouldn’t want it to get cancelled again or not to be able to do things how we would have liked. We have looked at a new reception venue which we both love but most things will probably stay the same.
How did you spend your original wedding date in the end?
We had a very relaxed day, had a bottle of fizz while getting ready to go to a really lovely Japanese restaurant in Norwich called Soyokaze, had some more wine there, and then more in the pub afterwards. We just spent the whole day together and celebrated being us.

What have you learnt about yourselves and as a couple going through this?
We are quite lucky as we work and live together so are around each other a lot of the time with or without a lockdown. We realised very early on during this that we both need our bit of time each day but managed to build a little routine very naturally that gave us time apart and together which living in a one-bedroom flat was a miracle. If anything we are coming out of this even closer and even more in tune with each other, we’ve turned into that sickly couple which knows what each other is thinking or finishing sentences!
What are you most looking forward too when lockdown restrictions lift?
Definitely a holiday, and maybe moving to somewhere with a garden in case this happens again! We both love travelling so it has been a hard year with nothing planned. We are also both looking forward to being able to see family and friends more, having that opportunity to see people how we used to will be lovely. Hopefully, everyone has learned something from this though and starts to support each other more while taking things a little slower, this lockdown could have done wonders for our modern world if we all remember what we learned during it.
