Happy Wednesday everyone :)
There is so much to love about this bridal shoot take took place at Hever Castle in Kent. The creative team took inspiration from Hever’s beautiful gardens and showcased an abundance of florals and modern bridal style.

Where did you get your inspiration from?
The inspiration for this shoot came from the venue. If you’ve ever visited Hever Castle you’ll know that the gardens this time of year (in fact any time of year) are beyond incredible. I found the most stunning gowns & themed the whole shoot around the lush gardens & flowing layers of the dresses.
Originally I chose the lavender dress to team up with the massive, ancient wisteria garden at Hever but after such a cold spring in 2021, we arrived on the shoot day to discover there wasn’t even a leaf or a bud growing in the wisteria maze – let alone an abundance of lilac flowers! and it was right at the end of May too.
I had to change my mindset quickly and we ended up with more pinks & reds than planned but it still worked out beautifully. We found an old stone staircase with a small pond AND a waterfall at the top. Surrounded by all these fully bloomed colourful rhododendrons. It couldn’t have been more perfect!!
How did you find the suppliers who made this concept come to life?
I chose the team because I’ve worked with them all before. Some on styled shoots and some I’ve just met at weddings over the past years. There are so many lovely, kind people in this business so as well as choosing the team for their incredible talents, I also felt it important to have happy friendly souls working together too.
What details are your favourite, and why?
Every detail is on my favourites list!!! But its the dresses that make the shoot. They take it from an average but beautiful Bridal inspired ‘collaboration’ shoot & give it a super striking ‘fashion’ edge. Adding an almost ‘painterly’ effect when photographed. Liz from Sylvias Kitchen created the cake to match the skirts of the dresses! Did you see the cake!!!! Wow!
Do you have any styling tips for readers looking to emulate this shoot?
Obviously the time of year is key. Being able to have your wedding outside is so weather dependant but you could easily do this just as well indoors if the weather is wet. Just go for an abundance of colour. Big colourful blooms everywhere. Just dont hold back!!!
What is it that makes your shoot unique?
This shoot doesn’t follow a particular style or set in stone theme. It’s a concept for using nature & flowers to enhance any wedding. The main thing I wanted to get across was that colour should be celebrated & does not ever have to look tacky or cheep. Given a fashion edge I feel that we’ve achieved a stunning photoshoot thats timeless & stylish too.
What’s the most important tip you have for couples planning their wedding?
Become obsessed with lists. Everything seems over-whelming is your just trying to remember everything in your head. Write a main list & continuously break it down in to do-able chunks. Delegate where ever possible & give yourself achievable weekly tasks. So you can congratulate yourself on getting each thing done as you go along.
Get your wedding venue & photographer booked in first as soon as possible and then everything else will fall into place. Ask your photographer for recommendations for other suppliers – we work with so many amazing people – we can always recommend someone who will be the perfect fit for every aspect of your wedding.
