Wicked & Wonderful Industrial Wedding Shoot…

When Jo from Couture Events put together this shoot, she wanted to create an edgy, industrial vibe for cool kick-ass couples. They found an empty warehouse space that they then filled with graffiti, tons of greenery and copper details. Here Jo tells us more about the shoot…

With modern day weddings increasingly moving away from a traditional church service, couples are looking towards a more inventive setting to exchange their vows.

Our latest look takes us beyond anything you are likely to see in a standard bridal magazine. Coming from the industrial city of Hereford, we wanted to draw upon local materials to create a bespoke yet visionary display, that’s both economic and opulent.

We love to create a sense of grandiose occasion out of nothing. Based on an industrial estate in Hereford means we are surrounded by metals and wood, which served as the basis for this particular project.

Using old wooden pallets stacked to create a wall bedecked with greenery and lighting, we created an organic and charming backdrop. Old copper piping was turned into ornate candelabras, discarded metal grids were used to hang guests’ names at the entrance, while bottles and tin cans were up cycled to hold flowers and candles to add delicate detail to the cable wire reels and wooden tables.

Along with mismatched vintage chairs, we made copper hula-hoops hanging from the walls, and plenty of gold and greenery, the final result is a beautifully refreshing take on a classic wedding set-up.

We found a local street artist to come down to the industrial unit and graffiti ‘Forever Together’ on the wall. It’s not your traditional centre-piece at a wedding venue by any means, but the colours add some vibrancy to the venue – and our bride and groom look fantastic standing against it,

Our florist did an amazing bouquet, which simply spoke for itself, keeping with the greenery and using Ivory flowers. Greenery lampshades hung above the table, swept down the staircase and took pride of place on the grooms lapel.

Hair & Make up worked together really well complimenting each other’s work. Make up was kept strong look with a deep purple lips. Pink colour was added to the bridesmaid hair to give her a more edgy look with her sequined outfit.

The cake we wanted to pull together all the elements of the shoot, so we placed it on a wooden tier and a copper top tier, with some graffiti details in the middle

Colin our photographer captured everything and more in this shoot and we loved working with him. That’s the beauty of this industrial wedding photoshoot; it’s not supposed to work, but like the very best relationships, it comes together to create something distinctly original that shines with authenticity and character.
