Tell us a bit about your business…

We are bridal outfitters for #badassbrides. Our mission is to source freaking amazing fashion-lead preloved bridalwear. Once our bride has found ‘The One’ they are matched with one of our designers to tweak and upcycle their piece to become their outfit of dreams. The upcycling could be expected bridal alterations or the sky is the limit….

We believe that is criminal to spend the average £2, 000 that British brides spend on their wedding dresses unless you are getting something truly divine and handmade. On average our dresses, with standard alterations, come to £300 and allow you to place more budget on other more important things eg. your honeymoon road trip, Charlotte Olympia kitty flats or that little thing known as your ‘happily ever after’.

What made you start up the business…

Lucky Sixpence Bridal was born in late 2015 following my own awesome (yeah, I went there!) wedding. I love planning and getting creative but found the wedding industry to be a pretty painful place.

From being ripped off from mentioning the W-word, to a real lack of creativity and non-existent customer service I felt there was space for something to ‘disrupt’ this archaic way of doing things. Hopefully Lucky Sixpence Bridal can help provide some disruptive vibes!

What makes you Unique…

Our thing is rescuing amazing vintage and preloved pieces and allowing them to shine again with another bride. To truly shine on your big day we believe you need to show yourself off and we work with our brides to upcycle their chosen bridalwear to their heart’s desire.

In the way that we work we are able to provide an amazing experience, be eco friendly and not break the bank. What more could you want?

What kind of couples match your style of service…

We love weddings but only ones that shine a light on the couple’s personalities and loves. We believe that you can wear whatever you want to your big day, have dogs as guests and eat waffles at The Little Chef afterwards.

We love the thrifty couple, the ‘who cares, we’re in love’ couple and the ladies who don’t want to suddenly don a meringue of a dress if that’s just not their thing IRL.

I’ve always been a magpie, finding amazing things in unexpected places. I love using these skills and helping amazing women find their outfits for their amazing wedding days! I am also obsessed with the #GirlBoss side of it all!

Most favourite event/ wedding…

Can I say mine? Well, mine then. It was totally chilled out, we had nothing to really organise on the day which was the dream. We danced to System of A Down twice (thank you ex-Kerrang fm DJ!), ate burgers, had a surprise Pinata (thanks, Mum) and Wall-E and Eve were our red velvet cake toppers.

People’s reaction to your business…

As my first foray into being an entrepreneur no-one is surprised at all! I am always the one trying out a new item of clothing to figure out if it works for me and badgering friends to come to new places with me. As mentioned above I am active in the whole female entrepreneur scene and love supporting others through the series I write for www.houseofcoco.net

Future plans…

We have our first week long residency in Brighton with the Lucky Six Wedding Chapel (1^st-8^th August). We are transforming a space opposite Brighton Dome into a boutique and Vegas style wedding chapel. Drop us a line to book an appointment or even your wedding ceremony!
