That Friday Feelings…
Today we share a little project involving two of my favourite things.. Lizzie from Wedding Yurts and Vodka; Chase Vodka to be precise.
So when Lizzie said she had put together a shoot using her gorgeous yurts and some delicious summer cocktail recipes, i knew it was going to be pretty special…
Just in time for the weekend ;)
Lizzie from Wedding Yurts…
One of the most popular parts of our service at Wedding Yurts is most definitely our Yurt Bar – this amazing space is always packed out at our weddings and at this time of year, our signature cocktails are an absolute must.
We just love creating new cocktails, especially from local and seasonal produce. Of course, because we spend the summer months travelling around the UK hosting yurt weddings, our version of ‘local’ changes on a very regular basis! Every week we have a new local shop, new local suppliers and, if we’re really lucky, new local brewers and distillers too!
It’s always great when we can stock our Yurt Bar with fantastic locals ales and, if possible, wines, spirits and bubbly from the area as well. We also make our own wines and liqueurs from seasonal fruit that we forage from hedgerows and just last week, we were lucky enough to stay on a fantastic ‘pick your own’ farm and we’ve already got some delicious strawberry wine brewing.
Back in May, we hosted our annual Spring Open Week at Wye Valley View Weddings in Herefordshire and I couldn’t have been happier because the Chase distillery and farm were literally just down the road! They produce an amazing selection of vodkas from potatoes and fruit gown on their farm so the ingredients go straight from field, to distillery to bottle, all on the one site. You can’t get more local than that!
The wonderful team at Chase very kindly gave us a selection of vodkas for our guests to taste and, of course, we couldn’t resist creating new cocktails for the season ahead.
Our timing was perfect because Sarah from Toot Sweets had just been in touch and I love her! Toot Sweets serves boozy sorbets and ice creams from a very cool Citroen H van and vintage trike. Let me tell you now that sorbet and vodka is a totally winning combination for a refreshing summery cocktail!
So, with all our local goodies to hand, we whipped up the Chase Elderflower Vodka Liqueur with some Prosecco Sorbet and then tried Rhubarb Vodka with Toot Sweets’ Raspberry Sorbet. Both of these frothy ice-cold cocktails explode on your tastebuds and are insanely good.
We enjoyed them as we watched the sun go down at Wye Valley View Weddings but you can enjoy them at any time in our Yurt Bar. It really is the perfect piece of furniture to style and decorate at a wedding and it’s a natural focal point for guests. I have to say that I love the look of the Yurt Bar in these images by Captured by Katrina as it’s adorned with a beautiful garland of peonies, roses and foxgloves made by Christiane from Honeysuckle Flower Co.
I hope to see you in our Yurt Bar very soon and I promise to have the cocktails waiting!
