Tell us a bit about your business…
Hello there, I’m Rebecca and I’m more than a little obsessed with photography, it really is something I live and breath! I am based on the clifftops of the wonderful seaside town of Ramsgate in Kent where on a clear day I can see the cliffs of the French coastline sparkling in the distance! I love to travel and work across Kent and have shot all over the UK and as far away as Paris, Brugge, Italy and Iceland, I love adventures!
What made you start up the business…
Photography is something I have always loved. One of my first jobs was developing 35mm film and so I have learned it from the basics upwards. I was lucky enough to lecture on a photography degree and although this was part time, my heart was always in shooting weddings and so I took the leap to do this full time and haven’t looked back in years. I have been shooting weddings since 2010 and feel blessed to have worked with so many wonderful people.
What makes you unique…
I have always focused on putting my couples at the heart of everything I do and have always been myself. I think your story through life makes your approach to your work unique. I did geography at uni so I love seeing the connection of people and places and weaving in natural elements to my images. I embrace weather, whatever happens, rain, wind or shine, I am excited by it to make something magical of it within the wedding story I am telling. I am a musician too, playing sax and piano and I really get a sense of pace when I am shooting as seeing a day unfold has so many different tempos where things are chilled and relaxed or nerves bubble up as you rush to your ceremony and so I sense a day through timing a shot that is in time with the moments unfolding. All of these things blend together creatively when I am shooting.
What kind of couples match your style of service…
I love working with couples who are looking for a photographer who blends in with their day, telling the storyline as it unfolds in an unobtrusive way. I love it when my couples are excited about the investment they are going to make in their photography and we ideas share and they trust me and how I will document how I see their day.
Tell us what you love about your business…
I love knowing that I am distilling memories and creating images that only increase in value overtime. This always mind boggles me but in time I treasure moments where out of the blue couples message me about looking back at their photos at poignant moments and learn how important they are to people.
Most favourite event/wedding…
This isn’t a cop-out. I genuinely LOVE each couple I have worked for. So much heart and soul gets poured in to the joyful moments on their day and editing them afterwards that I don’t have one favourite, for each is wonderfully different and I treasure them all.
People’s reaction to your business…
A lot of people comment on my low light and night time photography and I am thrilled to have won awards for that. It was always important to me to shoot epic shots when what I call ‘available darkness’ arrives. Not everyone creates magical moments like these and I like to create something a little bit special for my couples what ever amount of available light or darkness we have for their wedding.
Future plans…
I am super excited about the couples I am working with this year and the ones that have booked me for their weddings in 2017. I have a few new developments that I am working on at the moment that will be unveiled later this year and I am bursting to share these but will be good and wait until they are ready!
