Cultural, glitter filled celebration…
Today’s wedding is eclectic, stylish and fun – right up our street!
Rox & Kev wanted to ensure their day included a mix of their unique traditions and passions; A traditional Catholic service followed by a disco-inspired reception, and unique Iranian catering. Oh, and the Bride’s outfit – LOVE!

Why you love this wedding…
An extremely lovable couple mixed with unique variety of styles and cultures made for a very original day. I had so much fun.
What were the couple’s requirements…
Other than getting some dancefloor action it was a very relaxed brief and left me free to capture as I saw fit.
Favourite details of the day…
The belly dancer was so much fun
Favourite moment of the day…
It had to be Nan watching the ceremony via a video call in the church. They stopped to wave on their way back down the aisle and seeing Rox get emotional was very touching.

Tell us how you met and got engaged…
We met in a bar in the Northern Quarter, Manchester over a pint of ale and some jazzy trousers. Our engagement took place in Wapping, London – underneath the silts of the Prospect Of Whitby Pub on the beach of the River Thames, the night before we were picking up the keys to our new London flat!
What were your main hopes for the day…
We wanted to host an unforgettable party everyone would remember (or not depending on the free bar allocation!)
Was your favourite part of the day…
It was all so enjoyable it’s hard to pick just one part, but by the end of the evening there was not one person who wasn’t absolutely covered in glitter and sequins.
How was your day unique…
The day was quite an eclectic mix of our traditions and passions. We had a traditional catholic service, followed by a disco-themed reception in an old church 5mins from the bar we met – whilst serving Iranian food throughout. A friend created all our disco-themed artwork, so many elements throughout the day had a consistent theme. We also had a belly dancer perform and a disco/ iranian pop music DJ. We had individual dessert cake-in-a-jar for dessert and homemade cheese (created on the hen do). We had a GIF booth instead of a traditional photobooth and a glitter table – which was put to good use.
What was your budget…
We tried to keep costs in check my using local business and deciding early on in the planning what traditions were important to us, and which one were not, leaving us money to spend on the parts of the day that were most important to us.
What was your biggest expense…
Our biggest expense was our catering. We wanted everyone to have something a little different so served an Iranian-inspired menu.
How did you save money…
We managed to save money by focusing on what could have a big impact, without too much detail, and what traditions were important to us. For example, we didn’t have a wedding cake, but instead served individual cakes in 5 flavours as dessert options for guests. We managed all the invites and RSVPs digitally through a website and email system which we found saved time as well as money on postage. We also used lighting to create atmosphere and warmth instead of investing too heavily in flowers which kept costs down for us.
What was it like working with your photographer…
Mike was so warm and welcoming. He was a great communicator and really took control of the photos, guiding us into what to consider and captured some really moments in the day we hadn’t seen ourselves.
Mike made us feel really excited and all the elements we had incorporated into it, and we had complete trust in him throughout the day.
Advice to any couples about to get married…
We got engaged and then married 7 months later – just don’t let it get too stressful. Trust your friends, family and those you have to support you to help you with the prep and planning of the day – which will allow you to relax and enjoy yourself on your wedding day.
You can’t control everything, just don’t turn up 20mins late to the church like the bride did at our wedding!
Congratulations to you both, and thank you for sharing!
