Beautiful backdrops and muted colour palettes…
Can you hear that sound? It’s the sound of us totally hyperventilating over this flawless styled shoot we’ve got for you today. It’s a stunning beauty editorial that provides a perfect antidote to a sometimes crazy, sometimes cluttered wedding industry. It’s breathtaking (told you, I’m hyperventilating over here), elegant, delicate and serene whilst also packing a MEGA styling punch.
“I think what makes this shoot so unique is mostly the way the materials were used – bringing nature indoors, creating minimal, tonal backdrops, hand-painting florals and using a model who is beautiful inside and out.” photographer Kaley from Kaley from Kansas explains.
About those minimal, tonal backdrops: “I went to a small shop south of the city and found amazing fabrics that I knew would work well in this bright, minimal space and really flow with the organic, freeing nature of the shoot.” They were then attached loosely to the wall, where they created a bold block backdrop whilst still maintaining all-important fluidity and movement. The muted tones and organic outlines blended seamlessly into The Cottage Rose’s stunning floral elements. Ferrell used neutral tones and divine fluffy textures to add depth without overpowering the beautiful simplicity of the shoot.
Stunning bridal accessories
“I think of this shoot as an organic, beauty editorial with added elements of nature, fluidity and femininity. This shoot was dreamed up firstly through myself and Daniella, the owner of Naturae Design. She had a few bridal accessories that she wanted me to photograph – her pieces are like wearable art and I was so drawn to that. I also really love the story of how Daniella sees her woman wearing the pieces, feeling empowered and centred by a connection to something bigger than her, rooted in the natural and the ancient.” Alongside the stunning Naturae Design pieces, Hanno wore dresses from Sarah Seven and Made With Love Bridal, sourced from Bride KC. They were all inkeeping with the delicate and feminine feel of the shoot, with sleek lines and stunning fabrics.
“I always love having a team of talented woman alongside me, and this was no exception. All of these women I have worked with prior, but they all believe in my vision and each shoot is so unique and inspirational and I know they love being a part of it all. My number one tip would be to share your vision and reach out to people/vendors that you’d like to work with; be organised, give other creatives a chance; and focus on a few key elements instead of trying to make so much happen in one shoot.”
We’re totally feeling the focusing on key elements feel in this shoot, as it’s minimalist decor with maximum impact. Isn’t it just the chicest thing you’ve ever laid eyes on?!
