Happy Friday everyone!
I’m going to end this week on a high with this beautiful bridal shoot created by the team behind Photography Farm.
Romantic florals, mermaid vibes and tones of coral, pink and turquoise; all with the magical backdrop of Walcot Hall… what more could you want from a dreamy, fairytale inspired bridal shoot…
Over to the team to tell us more about the shoot and the inspiration behind it…
Photography Farm…
Where did you get your inspiration from?
The styling of this Photography Farm workshop was subtly inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s story of The Little Mermaid; specifically, we loved the descriptions of the “world above the sea” as seen through the eyes of fairytale characters experiencing it for the very first time. The colour palette we explored included sunset tones alongside accents in turquoise, to echo some of the key features of the venue. The water motif made its appearance through the styling narrative with small details in the stationery and outfits, the stunning fountain in the venue’s gardens, and the peaceful lake reflecting the last light of the day.

How did you find the suppliers who made this concept come to life?
The suppliers who came together for this workshop and photoshoot were curated by our stylist, Valentina from The Stars Inside. She researched vendors who would be aligned with one another, and with the brief, in both style and ethos, and who she felt could bring a contemporary and refined touch to this playful theme. This team absolutely adored coming together to create again, in a safe and considerate way; we all really want couples to know that we are here for them, ready to bring to life the celebration that is most true to them – and that an intimate day like this can be all the more magical!
What details are your favourite, and why?
There were a few areas of the venue that we absolutely adored, and that we were so delighted to be able to showcase, like the small chapel with the red door, nestled in the forest, and the fantastic teal-coloured ballroom flooded with natural light. A venue with such variety of spaces allowed us to tell the story through lots of unique details throughout the day, like the foam-like florals climbing out of the fountain, the pond-inspired centerpieces on the dining table, the dry ice swirling around the cakes like waves, and the shell crown of our mermaid on the lake.
Do you have any styling tips for readers looking to emulate this shoot?
You can recreate a palette like this by exploring a tonal range around red, orange, coral, and pink, and then adding those small accents in teal that will really POP. Textures were a really key element for us in styling this shoot, as we wanted to echo the way the sea can be calm and soft but also wild and chaotic; the way it can be sparkly under the moonlight but also a deep blue in the darkness. When you’re designing the way your day will look and feel, try to consider all the senses, and to approach your idea from lots of different angles: that’s what will make the narrative feel cohesive and effortless, as if everything had been made to go together.
What is it that makes your shoot unique?
We wanted to show couples that it’s possible to create a look that feels contemporary and refined, while also being playful and a little bit wild! We designed set-ups for an intimate dinner, an outdoor ceremony with a beautiful fountain backdrop, and a romantic row on the lake as the light turned golden, to show just how much a wedding day can be personalized. We hope we can inspire couples to plan the day that feels right for THEM, and to fill it with whatever they are most excited about!
What’s the most important tip you have for couples planning their wedding?
Our wedding planner and stylist Valentina from The Stars Inside says: “Honestly the single most important advice I can give is to take your time and be purposeful when it comes to choosing what to invest in. Those lifelong memories will be most meaningful and full of joy, for both you and your guests, if you embrace telling YOUR story in whichever way is right for you. Try to gently let go of any preconceptions, expectations, or pressure you’re feeling, and be really honest with yourself and with each other about what matters the most to you. Being clear on these priorities will make budgeting, communicating, and making decisions easier and more fun, and will also allow you to be more present on the day itself. You deserve a day you LOVE and want to relive over and over!”
