Today we have a gorgeous English woodland bridal shoot for you! Colourful and free- spirited this shoot involved a cute couple, vibrant flowers, a cool grazing station, a macrame ceremony area and an ethereal cake display…

Inspiration…

Brisbane is known for its eclectic style and natural beauty. From the open air markets, secret festivals and powder white beaches to assorted hand-made treasures and mismatched decor, i adore the bohemian, off-beat style this part of the world has to offer.

I wanted to create a unique, colourful, summer-y bohemian vibe within this shoot. I aspired to create a vibrant shoot that combines a taste of byron bay style with the english woodland landscape, bringing the magical ‘summer of love’ feel to the forests of england.

A young, head-over-heels-in-love couple celebrate the end of their festival-filled summer with a vibrant, naturally-beautiful wedding in the forest. With hand-made macramé art work shipped from byron bay itself, an ethereal, bohemian dress by daughters of simone, eclectic décor details, plenty of lush blooms and a beautifully-knotted backdrop, our shoot represents the bochic couple – a relaxed, fun-loving couple looking for something a little alternative.

Every tiny detail of the shoot was thought about, designed and created. I wanted a macramé theme running throughout and the shoot includes work from four different macramé artists (based in byron bay, london, nicaragua and ireland). Although we do have a macramé backdrop, i wanted to also design something never seen before – i asked the austrailian artist to knot a table runner and macramé bunting. We also had dip dyed plant hangers, a mini macramé cake topper and a fringed hammock. All the mobiles and dream catchers were also hand made by vintage party arrangements.

I wanted diversity and a wide range of images, so i set myself a project in creating four distinct areas to shoot:

1) A bohemian woodland picnic
2) An ethereal wedding cake display
3) A vibrant grazing station
4) A macramé ceremony area

In keeping with the relaxed summer of love style, the bride’s hair held loose waves and was adorned with a vibrant, show-stopper of a flower crown! Later her hair was changed into a halo braid for a subtler look. Make up was also very natural and metallic tattoos/white henna were added for the second change to create a fun, festival feel. Not to mention a gorgeous, fresh flower anklet!

Any styling tips…

Before thinking about the smaller details within your styling, focus on an overall colour palette and consistent theme. For example, I knew I wanted the overall style of our shoot to be inspired by macramé and that i wanted the palette to be colourful. Once you have a consistent style and palette in mind, relevant design ideas will lead from this foundation. I find this is the best way to interlink all of your design elements so the styling is consistent throughout your wedding décor.
