Welcome to a world where nature and luxury come together in perfect harmony, where the free-spirited vibes blend seamlessly with historic elegance.
Elmore Court, a valued member of our Unique Rebels Union community, invites you to an extraordinary experience at Rewild Things in picturesque Gloucestershire. I recently had the pleasure of embarking on a **press stay at this incredible treehouse destination, and let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations with its exceptional ethos and beliefs that go above and beyond the ordinary.
Let’s dive into the fascinating background of Elmore Court Estate…
Nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Gloucestershire, this remarkable estate traces its roots back to the 13th century when it was granted to the Guise family by the court of Henry III. Steeped in rich history and tradition, Elmore Court has gracefully transitioned into the 21st century under the visionary ownership of Anselm Guise.
Anselm, with his vibrant and diverse background in music festivals, brings a modern and dynamic touch to the Elmore Court Estate. His passion for sustainability and revelry has always been at the forefront of his plans for the estate. One of his first projects was the creation of the “Gillyflower,” a remarkable eco-ballroom that serves as an integral part of the Elmore Court Wedding Venue and showcases the use of natural materials sourced directly from the estate. The walls are crafted from rammed earth sourced from Elmore, while the timber used is harvested from their own woodland. The compacted rammed earth walls are also soundproof, which comes in handy when cranking up the sound system!
In recent years, Anselm has embarked on an awe-inspiring journey of rewilding the Elmore estate, recognising the profound importance of the land, the earth, and nature. As the estate enters its third year of a nature recovery program, guests are welcomed to indulge in the serenity of the rewilding land and find inspiration in their enchanting surroundings.
And now, the pièce de résistance – the treehouses!
Elmore Court has recently introduced an exhilarating new experience for guests: six luxurious treehouses that are simply extraordinary. Perched high up in the enchanting woodlands, these bespoke cabins provide an unparalleled opportunity to reconnect with nature and embrace the rewilding of the surrounding lands.
Each treehouse bears a unique name, paying homage to the guiding spirits: Wren, Adder, Wild Cat, Sky, Earth, and Kite.
Our stay was in the Earth treehouse, one of the largest among them, comfortably accommodating up to four guests with its hidden day bed and trundle. As you follow the long and winding path to the treehouses, enveloped in beautiful British wood, you’ll sense a growing sense of anticipation. And as you swing open the door, prepare yourself for a spectacular panorama of the wetlands and woodlands that stretch out from every window.
The spacious sundeck beckons you to relax and take in the landscape… keep your eyes peeled, as you might just spot the majestic longhorn! A brazier fire pit with a wood store and snooze chairs sets the stage for cozy evenings spent under the stars.
Outside there is also a beautiful Roshults outdoor kitchen with a combi-oven, fridge, and dining table that invites you to make the most of your time spent outdoors. While the treehouses are equipped for self-catering, you also have the option to pre-order a range of local food and drinks from the Rewild Things kitchen. During our press stay we were treated to sample some of the available options. When we arrived there was breakfast cereals, fresh sourdough bread, jams, olives, crackers, posh nuts and homemade dandelion cordial. The fridge was stocked with gourmet ready meals (ours for the stay was the Slow-cooked Beef Shin & Caramelised Shallot Hot Pot which was an absolute win), Wild Thing Organic Prosecco, and Wholly Cow milk from the award-winning Elmore dairy farm.
Now, let me share one of my favourite features – the William & Holland tin and copper bath that graces the deck. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and soak in everything nature has to offer while taking in the breathtaking views. As a self-proclaimed bath lover, I can confidently say it was the most indulgent bath I’ve ever experienced! I lost track of time, soaking and catching up on emails while enjoying the best office view in the world. I must also mention the incredible rain shower that truly felt like a spa experience, enhanced by the luxurious Commune bath products.
Rest assured, these treehouses are designed for comfort and convenience, with all your modern-day needs thoughtfully considered. From an electric car charging point and DAB radio, to super-fast fibre Wi-Fi and mini indoor kitchen with a toaster and coffee machine, no detail has been overlooked.
Let’s talk design!
The Rewild Things Treehouse project was a true family affair, with Anselm’s cousin Anselm Fraser handcrafting the beautiful and comfortable spindle beds and another cousin, Tracey Boyd, taking charge of the homeware and furniture design. Tracey shared her vision, saying,
“My interior concept for @rewildthings treehouses was to create a cozy home ambiance. Starting with a green marbled cork floor and bleached wood walls as a base, I embraced nature’s colours with stunning printed linens from @Fermoie and @Florasoames.
Adding texture with herringbone blankets from @thebritishblanketcompany, natural sheepskins, and beautiful boucles from @designersguild, I had the pleasure of collaborating with the finest British design companies on this project. I designed the burnt ash trundle beds, exquisitely crafted by @anselm_fraser, and incorporated touches of red with @anothercountry stools serving as bedside tables for @pooky lighting. Khaki @hay outdoor chairs and rust aluminium outdoor dining from @case furniture added the final touches.
Each treehouse boasts its own distinct character. For Earth, I aimed to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, with a muted autumnal palette featuring hues of rose, coral, and rust. And one of my personal favourites, Wren, is adorned with apple green, moss, and sunshine yellow, perfectly reflecting its spirit.”
To round things up…
I had the most magical stay… it was truly a splendid weekend to unwind, immerse myself in nature, embark on picturesque walks, and savor delightful culinary delights from the Rewild Things kitchen.
